Traditionally Catholic regions

Since the Reformation, the Roman Catholic Church has been dominant in Central Switzerland (the cantons Uri, Schwyz, Ob- and Nidwalden, Lucerne and Zug), in the cantons Fribourg, Jura, Appenzell-Innerrhoden, Valais, Tessin and in parts of the cantons Basel-Landschaft, Aargau, Solothurn, Thurgau and Graubünden.
