Maria Bildstein
The origin of this place dates back to 1519. The abbess of the Schänis convent at the time had a wayside shrine built to house a statue of the Virgin Mary, which gave the present-day village its name. A service is held in the Maria Bildstein pilgrimage church every weekday.
